Fire – Nini Policappelli
Acrylic on Canvas
Artwork – 22”h x 22”w
Renowned Italian artist Nini Policappelli first caught the attention of American press in a feature article in the Los Angeles Daily News in 1989. Known for his bold artwork and sculpture, Policappelli describes his creativity as mental art. “People look at my work and do not usually accept everything at once. In each view, they see a greater meaning, reflected in motion, focus, and color,” he says. Policappelli’s works hang in museums, galleries, and private collections around the world. Most recently, in April of 2018, a retrospective of his paintings was on display in a two-month long exhibition in Curitiba, Brazil, drawing great praise from art lovers as well as critics. This piece is one of three that we found at an estate sale in Scottsdale, Arizona, an area known for its numerous patrons of the arts. It was painted in 1995 and is highlighted by thick, bold, applications of acrylic and a unique black and grey border framing the piece. We found records of other works of Policappelli’s selling for $4,000 - $6,000, but none are as striking and dramatic as this series which we feel is captivating and intriguing and likely to only increase in value.
