Conversations in the Abstract #18 - Downs
Acrylic on Canvas - 2018
Artwork - 30”w x 30”h
Downs is one of our absolute favorite artists. We made our first acquisition from him at his studio in 2012 and actually designed the living room in our home around it. It remains a focal point in our collection today. This piece is part of a new series, Conversations in the Abstract. We feel it is one of his strongest works. It exhibits extraordinary depth and complexity, a signature of the artist. One can almost feel the conversation the artist was having with himself while creating the piece. It is energetic, vibrant, and modern yet it has an almost tribal quality with layers of etched lines and texture. Downs has been featured in numerous exhibitions, galleries, and museums in the U.S. and around the world including The Azabu Museum of Arts, in Tokyo, the Nan Miller Gallery in New York, and the Palm Springs Art Museum in California. Offering this piece in our gallery is our opportunity to promote the work of an exceptional abstract artist that we that we deeply appreciate and feel is too fantastic not to share.
